FAREWELL TERRY JONGEN
Ahead of the ANDRA AGM, long-time ANDRA Board
Member Terry Jongen announced his resignation
after a long tenure working at the helm of our
Association.
“As he embarks on this next chapter, we thank him for all he has
done and wish him well.”
For Terry, what will stay with him in particular is the passion of
those involved with the sport of drag racing
Terry was part of the National Control Council from 2007 to 2011
before being appointed as an original Director of the ANDRA Ltd
Board on the 13th of April, 2011. He has also been the Western
Australia Division Director since 2007, when he was elected to the
post after having been part of the WA Divisional Council for more
than 10 years. “The passion of drag racers never ceases to amaze me – whether
they are a racer or a volunteer or a paid staff member, everyone is
so passionate about their sport and I think that is fantastic,” Terry
said.
A medical professional based in Perth, Terry has been involved in
the development of medical services in drag racing and speedway
and also competes in the Competition Bike ranks when time
permits. “Over that time there have been a lot of proud moments and
highlights. In particular I think our moving to a company structure
was something that was very positive as it gave the members more
say and the directors more accountability.
“Terry has provided a great service to ANDRA as part of our
management for such a long period of time,” ANDRA Chairman,
Nathan Peirano, said.
“First as part of the National Control Council and then as a Director
on our Board and as a Divisional Director for Western Australia,
Terry has given a lot to ANDRA as an Association and we have
greatly appreciated his knowledge, his passion and his service.
“After 12 years and doing the best I can over that time, I think it is
time to now move on and let someone else take over.
“I also thought the Pro Series was a highlight, delivering some
good value for money when you consider the costs alongside what
was put on and the amount of television coverage involved.”
Terry’s position on the Board has been filled by Murray O’Connor
following a meeting of Division Directors prior to the 2018 AGM. All
at ANDRA wish Terry well and thank him for his service.
