A
Drawing Big Ticket Investments
ndhra Pradesh has added one more feather to its cap by
achieving a commendable position in attracting Foreign Direct investment. By competing with developed states like
Gujarat and Maharashtra in FDI flows within a short period of two
years after the unscientific division of the state, AP's leadership
showed the world that there is always a way, if there is a will.
The latest rankings by the respected Financial Times of London,
according to which the state was able to draw about Rs 40,000
crore foreign investments in 2015, once again affirmed the
credibility enjoyed by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu
across the business world.
This April also witnessed the opening of two big ticket manufacturing facilities in Sri City in Chittoor district which is fast emerging
as a major industrial base of Andhra Pradesh. While Mondelez
International, formerly Cadburys, inaugurated its state-of-the-art
facility, the largest in the Asia-Pacific Region, Isuzu Motors set up
its greenfield project for manufacturing its adventure utility vehicle
at an investment of Rs 3,000 crore. Hero Motors too is all set to
roll out its first phase of production in Sri City.
The laying of foundation stone for India's largest electronics
manufacturing cluster - ELCINA Raaga Mayuri Electronics Park
village in Hindupur, Anantapur district, this month is also another
step forward in beefing up the investment scenario.
The Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor Development Programme
(VCICDP), for which Asian Development Bank has come forward
to extend a loan of Rs 3,500 crore, will go a long way in augmenting
the infrastructure along the proposed corridor.
AP has never been a manufacturing base. Now, it will be, thanks to
the relentless efforts of this administration.
