Let’s Fly! Superheroes in Art

Shazamm!!! Get ready to blast off into the
fantastic and amazing world of superheroes!
Whether you are inspired by Star Wars characters, Legos or good old Marvel comics, come
explore many magnificent heroes in art and
daily life. Stretch your artistic skills and imaginations as you create paintings, drawings and
a sculptural version of your very own super
masked marvels. For our final show, we don
our personally created capes and masks for a
powerful display of Kapowww!!
Nicole Nagel Gogolak holds an MFA in fiber
from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA in
painting from the University of Michigan. She
is a local artist who works in encaustic and
mixed media. Her installations can be found in
the Aspen area.

What would it be like to capture the mystery
of the Mona Lisa’s smile, just like Da Vinci did?
How did Andy Warhol start an art revolution
with an ordinary soup can? Let’s look back at
the history of art from 1400-1980 by studying Leonardo da Vinci, Claude Monet, Henri
Matisse, Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol. Then,
let’s get our hands dirty and paint our very
own Mona Lisa complete with a hand-crafted
wooden frame, a 3D water lily constructed
from Styrofoam and cardboard, a collaborative
Matisse-like mural of paint and paper cutouts,
and a bold self-portrait à la Kahlo. Our grand
finale is to craft giant Campbell’s soup cans
