Concept: This workshop is for advanced artists
working with the genre of fiber sculpture or
utilizing a fiber sensibility. It is directed toward
artists who desire critical feedback and helpful advice from a nationally recognized fiber
artist. Class time is spent on individual selfdefined projects, and students receive both
one-on-one criticism and feedback through
group discussion. Quality of line and the language of materials related to concept and
technique are emphasized.
Concept: Memories can lie and our ability to
recall our past is subject to selective memory.
This course challenges students to transform
memoir into drawing as we grapple with memory as a point of departure for personal expression. The field of contemporary visual art provides a place of contemplation, discussion and
renewal on the subject of recollection.
Concept: This workshop focuses on ways to
integrate digital applications with traditional
etching. We learn to compose on the computer for soft ground drawing applications,
bring chine collé digital elements into the work
and consider other ways to create unlikely
hybrids of digital and manual processes. Learn
innovative approaches and combine print technologies from the last three centuries.
Advanced Fiber Workshop
Media & Techniques: Students choose their
media and techniques.
Activities: Students have individual spaces in
the studio and work on self-defined projects.
Individual critiques and consultations are available daily along with occasional group discussions and image presentations. This is a time
to reconsider work, complete work or delve
into experimentation that may be relevant to
the future.
