PRINTMAKING
The Printmaking program offers the opportunity to work with an exciting range
of incredible artists and media. We maintain a wide diversity of subject matter and
approach, while tailoring each class to a particular level of experience. Our classes offer an
intense, hands-on art making experience and critical feedback that will propel your studio
practice throughout the year.
The Ranch’s spacious print facilities are housed in the lower level of the Wyly Painting
Building. Each printmaking student has access to palettes, work tables, odorless solvents,
rags and an extensive collection of hand and power tools. Classrooms are further equipped
with a computer, Wifi access, printing, scanning, and projection capabilities. The Patton
Print Shop houses three etching presses and two lithography presses. We offer a wide
array of traditional and digital processes, wood carving tools, screen printing equipment,
etching, intaglio and lithography.

Skill Level: Open to all
Level I – Students have very limited experience or none at all. Classes usually start with

blends and other fascinating monotype techniques. Students have the opportunity to translate drawings, paintings and photographs into
the print form using Plexiglas plates as a printing surface.

printmaking, paper preparation and basic principles of registration.
Level III – Students have significant experience in the print medium that is the subject of
the workshop.
Level IV – Students have advanced skill and knowledge of the printmaking fields.
Students are highly motivated and self directed, have a minimum of five years experience
