Orange! Yellow! Green! Blue! Purple! Join us as we take a detailed look at the world of color through the eyes of the Masters. Why did Matisse paint with such shocking color? What is the meaning behind Picasso’s Rose and Blue periods? Do you think Van Gogh used so much yellow paint because it was his favorite? Daily talks about these artists take place while we get our hands dirty with plenty of mixing, blending, and changing of color. We also craft colorful ceramic fish, elaborate feathered 3-D birds and brightly painted rainbows. The week is completed by making a color tree as tall as us from recycled materials. Shhhh, what’s that you hear? There’s a rumble in the jungle! In this workshop we explore the extraordinary plants and animals of the rain forest. We take time to craft unique artistic creations that find inspiration from colorful birds of paradise, unusual tropical plants, and wild jungle animals. We make a quirky toucan with lots of bright feathers, a spotted leopard mask, and a giant rain forest watercolor painting. Each day we take time to read our favorite jungle stories and get our hands messy with lots of paint, glue, and glitter! SONYA TAYLOR MOORE is the owner of the Yellow Canary Art Studio in Basalt, CO.
