digital fabrication Brand new in summer 2015 is the Sorensen “FAB LAB” (Fabrication Lab)! Digital fabrication is a powerful tool for self-expression in the hands of creative designers, and opens up opportunities for an exciting combination of cutting-edge modern and traditional processes. A variety of workshops utilize digital fabrication technology housed in the FAB LAB and in multiple studios throughout the Ranch. Explore the possibilities with our state-of-the-art equipment, including a Techno-Isel 48x48 CNC (computer numerically controlled) Router, a CNC Plasma Cutter, three Makerbot Replicator II 3-D Printers, an Epilog Laser Engraver/ Cutter, 3-D scanner, and vinyl cutter. Digital Fabrication equipment is powered by Rhino, MasterCam, Aspire, digital fabrication skill levels:  Open to all - Students of any skill and knowledge level, but have some computer skills Level I - Students are new to digital fabrication and have no formal training, but have some computer skills. Level II - Students have experience working with computeraided design with basic principles of CAM/software. Level III - Students have some formal training in digital fabrication, experience with a variety of materials and fabrication processes, and know how to use CNC, 3-D printers, or laser cutters competently and safely. Students have a portfolio of their work. Level IV - Students have advanced skill and knowledge of digital fabrication. Students are highly motivated and have multiple portfolios of their artwork.
