featured artists series
The Featured Artists Series hosts world-renowned artists
and curators who visit Anderson Ranch to present,
perform and discuss their work. It continues to be one
of Anderson Ranch’s most popular programs, fostering
a broader understanding of contemporary art for a wideranging audience. In 2014 the Ranch welcomed Wendell
Castle, Charles Gaines, Theaster Gates, Michael Golec,
Catherine Opie and Ron Nagle. Additionally, the Ranch
also hosted a special presentation by Massimiliano
Gioni for National Council members. In addition to giving
presentations, Featured Artists Series participants
engaged in roundtable discussions, interacted with
students and faculty and attended receptions with
supporters of Anderson Ranch at top collectors’ homes.

New to Anderson Ranch for summer 2014 was the
Conversations Series. The Conversations Series involves
key figures of the contemporary art world in conversation
with expert moderators. Discussions include seminars,
panels and Q&A formats with some of today’s top critics,
artists, curators, collectors and more. Conversations
bring a more casual format that is interactive, engaging
and relevant to the contemporary art community. The
2014 series included three conversations: A Conversation
with Debra and Dennis Scholl moderated by Dean Sobel,
Director of the Clyfford Still Museum; Navigating the Art
World for Artists: Petah Coyne, Artist, and Dede Young,
Gallery Director; and A Conversation with Anne Pasternak
moderated by Jennifer Stockman.
