AW: What would you say is the greatest challenge you’ve encountered as an artist? Elise: Lack of inspiration is a great challenge - especially when my work is in such demand and I don’t have any new ideas! A blank mind is very frightening… and even when I own tons of amazing pictures to still be painted, I also need inspiration in terms of technique and style. I want to continually evolve as an artist and I would not be happy to be stuck in a “winning recipe” for ever. Of course now I have found my way of painting that is recognizable, but I still want to evolve and be please with my evolution to keep me alive as an artist. AW: What is your favorite step in the process of creating a new work of art, and do you have a favorite individual piece? Elise: My favourite step is certainly to be sure it is finished (sometimes I think about it for a while!), to take a step back and to be happy with my creation. I have some paintings that marked an important evolution in my work, and that I am especially proud of. AW: Your pieces are distinctive and stylized. What kind of impression or feeling are you hoping to impart upon viewers? Elise: I am passionate for horses - it is actually that obsession that made me draw all the time (only horses!) back when I was a little girl. With my paintings, I want to put in image the emotions I have when I am with horses. These emotions are the ones we all share as horse lovers! As an artist, I wanted to give to the horse subject a more contemporary situation to evolve in, but with a horse that is correctly depicted and that will please every horse lover.
