as the nerve of coir industry. Over millions of people are employed
in this cottage industry which is the largest traditional Industry
of Kerala. Both men and women are employed in this industry.
Women are mainly involved in the yarn spinning sector and the
men in the product weaving sector. Most of the families in
Alleppey District earn their livelihood through the coir industry.
