i remember when
i began to feel the hole You left in my chest
i remember when
i thought You made life worth living
i remember when
i believed You helped me walk with my chin held higher
i remember when
i was able to say,
“i miss You”
words do not hold the same meaning
songs do not ring the same tune
flowers do not carry the same beauty
since i became
nothing
without You
but I am more than your shadow.
and I can do better without you.
because I have grown stronger than ever,
when I watched you walk out that door.
