The Night I Awoke from my Frightful Bane
Chris Fontenot
The night I awoke from my frightful bane,
As I felt the sweat bead down on my face;
I know I survived the runaway train.
I wake to the sounds of the speeding train;
The thudding tracks start to make my heart race.
The night I awoke from my frightful bane.
Images of he with a frightful mane;
His mechanical tentacles’ embrace.
I know I survived the runaway train.
His arms, swinging as if he’s so insane,
Flings my hero far away from this place.
The night I awoke from my frightful bane.
To me he stares, begins to inflict pain.
“You’re next!”, he shouts as he moves for my face.
I know I survived the runaway train.
Startled by the images my mind has obtained,
I wake up in my solitary space.
The night I awoke from my frightful bane.
I know I survived the runaway train.
