Swimming Tej Shanbhag Body on the deck, nerves in the mind, thoughts frozen at the sight of water, but the pool stares back at me, still in its appearance, but unforgiving in its depths. I get on the blocks, heart beating, pressure building, everything fogs. The whistle, though, snaps reality and adrenaline into consideration. This swim will certainly be a fast ride through emotion town. When I plunge into the water, a chill runs through my body, but I swim my first strokes, confidently, with hand after hand pulling the surface for speed. My feet are evident too, making the water splash, almost with the powerful demise of a volcano on land. As I push through the four hundred yard mark, I am slowly feeling the effects of the swim wear on my body. Ache is evident, But still I push on, with the grinding efficiency capacitating me. for the final leg of the swim. 63
