The Flooded Ascension Andrew Mureson The scene is idyllic, peaceful at port But the smooth waters churn, a storm, ground shakes All we can do is batten down the fort And hope we aren’t caught in its mighty wake A hurricane rages, a force of death A calamity unmatched in our time We hope were not far-gone, with bated breath After god’s wrath quells and the waters chime But the storm is not without certain cause Paving, rebuilding stronger than before If we stop time, reflect and simply pause There’s needed construction down to the core A dark typhoon churns, its evil vortex roars But we stand ready, for we will endure 30
