She didn ’ t think she could . She could be killed , Just for speaking up . Mordecai convinced her : If she did nothing , If she said nothing , If she remained hidden , Rescue would come from somewhere else . “ And who knows , perhaps you have attained your royal position Just such a crisis .” Just such a moment .
Perhaps , We are all here for just such a moment . Be fierce , like Queen Esther . Remember not to forget . This moment . This very moment .
Then rise , like Esther .
Once I was studying with Yossi Klein Halevi , a senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute , and he talked ( and has written extensively ) about Passover Jews and Purim Jews . Great , I thought , someone finally understands my marriage . My husband loves Passover , the words of the Haggadah , the preparation , the sitting around the table , with all its courses . I love Purim and try every year to make the celebration of Queen Esther bigger than the last . I love the quote from the Book of Esther , “ And who knows , perhaps you have attained your royal position for just such a crisis .” ( Esther 4:14 )
