mobo awards land in glasgow
Here's what went down on the night
This year's MOBO awards took place in the Scottish city of Glasgow. For it's 21st birthday the MOBO awards were at a new venue with a spectacular line-up of performers.
Craig David made a killer comeback performance with a medley of his old and new material, including '7 Days' and 'When the Bassline Drops'.
Newcomer, Anne-Marie (Bottom Left) took to the stage with Clean Bandit to perform their new single 'Rockabye', which also features Sean Paul. The star looked dazzling in shiny pink, figure-hugging flares as she smashed her debut appearance at the awards. WSTRN, Popcaan, Section Boyz and Lady Leshurr were also among some of the many performers of the night. The MOBO awards have evolved over the past two years after criticism surrounding the "failure" to recognise true urban talent.
The MOBO awards show provided a lot of top-class urban entertainment overall, but the night didn't come without it's mishaps.
While WSTRN were announced as the winners of Best Song, as they stood up to receive their award, Abra Cadabra's 'song 'Robbery' began playing. This caused much confusion but the group proceeded with an elated speech before later being told that actually there had been a faux pas. Abra Cadabra had actuallywon, Best Song and the wrong envelope had been given to the award presenters. OUCH!
Sir Lenny Henry,
last year's 'Paving the Way' winner, made an appearance to present this year's award to Team GB Boxer, Nicola Adams. The gold-medallist gave an inspiring acceptance speech about how at the age of 12 she knew being a boxer was what she wanted to do. Despite being told that she could only make it in boxing as a ringcard girl, Nicola became the first woman to win an Olympic boxing title.
