BEHIND THE SCENES

Japanese company chooses PLCnext

Cooperation with Yaskawa
Did you know that the inventor of the term mechatronics comes from Japan ? The company Yaskawa , today one of the leading manufacturers of industrial robots , registered the trademark rights back in 1971 .
Now , the Japanese company has agreed on a technology partnership with Phoenix Contact which , according to COO Ulrich Leidecker , “ is a milestone for the automation industry , because the more partners act in an open automation ecosystem , the more valuable it becomes for each individual participant .”
Yaskawa , a leading company in this industry , has decided to use PLCnext Technology . As a part of this framework , Phoenix Contact will license its PLCnext runtime environment to Yaskawa and has agreed upon joint further development .
Yaskawa plans to use the PLCnext runtime system in the fields of Motion Controls and Robotics , initially in Europe and the USA .

Phoenix Contact Dialog Days November 16 – 20
The COVID crisis does not only have negative results . It has given the economy momentum towards digital working methods that was hardly thought possible .
If getting together in-person is no longer allowed , how can you reach your customers and bring new technologies to the market ? This is a sensitive issue , as the traditional trade fairs have been almost entirely canceled for 2020 .
Phoenix Contact has very quickly and consistently ventured into the format of a digital trade show event , the Dialog Days . With so much success that other companies have jumped on the bandwagon and developed their own formats , not only in terms of content but also in terms of organization .
The second edition of Dialog Days will be held from November 16 to November 20 , 2020 to accompany the SPS connect and electronica virtual trade fairs , which are also being held digitally .
No expensive traveling days , no time-consuming journey , no risk – but with the full depth of information and support from the expert Phoenix Contact team .

New heavy-duty platform moves in to the Phoenix Testlab
Phoenix Testlab is an independent testing institute which , since its foundation in 1994 , has become an international institution for many industrial tests from a number of industries .
It is not only the technical requirements that have grown over the last few years , but also the dimensions of the test objects .
Consequently , a new mover and shaker has now moved into the test halls at the Königswinkel facility in Blomberg . And it is powerful : A test object can weigh up to three tons . To ensure that it can vibrate and shake ( hence the name ) at frequencies from 2 to 500 Hz , a massive 35-ton steel plate rests on its own vibrating foundation .
It is designed in such a way that it can also meet the requirements of the US Coast Guard during tests for maritime use – important , for example , when machine parts for shipping have to be tested .
The vibrations can be applied both horizontally and vertically . And for those who think that this is no big deal , the engineers at Phoenix Testlab can also carry out testing at temperatures from -40 ° C to + 120 ° C as well .
