AMN MAG, Issue #20 AMN MAG, Issue #20 | Page 7

I have always been a fan of J. Holiday’s since his debut album...and like most people, my favorite song from him is still, “Bed”. However, I recently purchased his new album, “Guilty Conscience” and I love every song on it ! J. Holiday is indeed ‘Incredible’. – Rhonda Simpson, Mesquite, TX Now, THIS is an R&B album! I have been playing this album nonstop since I got it on iTunes! Dude is just giving the real on every song. And AMN MAG, thank you for the cover and article. – Chris Moffit, Atlanta, GA leela james Thanks for this issue of AMN MAG! I feel like Leela James is among the underated artists out there today. Her voice is so unique. I wish her the best on her album and the upcoming reality show. – Jazmine Frye, St. Louis, Mo. I read your interview with Leela James and I like what she had to say about joining the cast of R&B Divas: Los Angeles and about her new album. I hadn’t realized that she had worked with Kanye West in the past. Great issue! – Rachel Ayers, Philadelphia, PA Kudos to Leela James for realizing that reality television can ruin a career if you don’t play your cards right; (ask Kelly Price!) I enjoyed her interview in AMN MAG and wish her the best. – Mary Rollins, Chicago, IL I have mixed feelings about Chrisette Michele joining R&B Divas: Los Angeles; it just feels like a step back for her because she’s actually had impressive success. Leela has too, but it seemed earlier on in her career, so this [R&B Divas] could be a good look for her. Leela definitely has an amazing voice, and with the right push, she could do really well. – LaShondra Keys, Richmond, VA Leela James is such a pretty girl, and if this were 1965, she would be a superstar! Her voice takes you back to the era of the Aretha’s and the Chaka’s. I love her song (and video) with Anthony Hamilton! Look forward to seeing her on TV soon. Thanks for a great feature AMN MAG! – Carolyn Thompson , Atlanta, GA nelson mandela tribute I was heartbroken to learn of the death of the magnificent, courageous and heroic, President Nelson Mandela. No one, in my opinion, has sacrificed more in the name of freedom and equality than our precious, Madiba! May he find eternal peace and rest after a life that he so tirelessly dedicated to others. Thank you for the beautiful tribute, AMN MAG! – Marilyn Bourdeau, New Orleans, LA There are no more leaders, warriors and peace fighters like Nelson Mandela! He was one who not only talked the talk, but walked the walk...literally! I went to the movies to see the fine, Idris Elba play Madiba in “Long Walk To Freedom” and I was moved to tears. I was heartbroken watching what was displayed in the movie, and I’m certain the movie did very little to depict what Mr. Mandela actually went through for those 27 years. There is no true way to capture the pain, loss and time that he missed locked up for simply caring too much for his people. Idris and Naomie did a great job playing Mr. Mandela and Ms Winnie, and I’m so happy that this increible man lived long enough to see his story come to life on the big screen by two amazing actors. Lisa, once again, great job with this issue of AMN MAG. Thank you for not only giving us the latest on great R&B music, but for remembering those things that truly matter. Rest in peace to President Nelson Mandela! – Debra Lawson, Plano, TX I agree that the world is a better place because Nelson Mandela was in it! #RIP – Michael Harris, Baton Rouge, LA I have much respect for Dr. Matin Luther King and Medgar Evers, but there will NEVER be a man quite like Nelson Mandela! #RIP – Shaun Brice, Jacksonville, FL AMN MAG is such a stellar magazine! Though I enjoyed each of the features in this issue, nothing moved me more than your tribute to the great, President Nelson Mandela. This man endured the worst kind of hatred, sacrificed time spent with his family, lost a son while incarcerated and still he stood strong for what he believed was fair and just! We need more men like this today who are willing to take a stand for the right things and grow our communities. Rest in peace, Mr. Mandela! – Keisha James, Rochester, NY 6| amn magazine
