Classic R&B
You know, the entrepreneurial
spirit is definitely a part of JADE
now, so we want to do our own
thing independently and utilize the
information that we are now armed
with. There is the traditional music
business, and then there’s the new
music business. The new music
business is what’s thriving right now
and we want to be a part of that.
There have been quite a few R&B
artists who have reemerged,
and have used reality television
as a vehicle to get reaquainted
with fans and the public. SWV
decided to go this route, as
did the ladies of the the R&B
Divas franchise. Has JADE ever
considered coming back via a
reality tv show?
Tonya: Yes, we did think about
it and it’s not something that
we would be opposed to doing;
however, it would have to be done
the right way. We are not interested
in embarrassing ourselves for the
sake of “good television”. It would
have to be something that shows us
in a positive light, that takes viewers
with us on our journey on the road
back as businesswomen and music
artists.
Joi: I agree with Tonya! We are
not interested in fighting, scratching
and pulling out weaves! (Laughs)
Reality TV is tricky you know, it’s a
business. And unfortunately, what
makes good tv is drama. I think
that if we were to do a reality show
it would be better built for something
like the OWN NETWORK (Oprah’s
television network), simply because
we are mindful of our brand and
want to show people that women
can work together and come back
without all the drama.
I can certainly appreciate that you
ladies are not driven by f
