13 Filter bed depth and type of filter The depth of the filter bed is a function of the filter design; it is always best to use filters in compliance with the German DIN standards. However, this is not always the situation, especially with small filters or horizontal filers. Filter bed depth may range from 300mm to 3000mm, if the filter complies to DIN will have a bed depth from 1200mm to 1400mm. AFM® may be used in any type of sand filter design including: 1. Vertical pressure filters. 2. Horizontal pressure filters. 3. RGF rapid gravity filters. 4. Moving bed sand filters with vertical up-flow or down-flow mode. There will be a variation in quality and performance of different types and manufacturers of sand filters. It is always best to use filters in compliance to DIN standard or from a reputable manufacturer. Regarding performance, vertical filters are better than horizontal filters, and filters with a nozzle distribution plate are preferred over laterals. Squares Pharmaceuticals in Dhaka Bangladesh.
