Tthe White Sands visitor ’ s center is a lovely restored historic adobe building with staff quarters behind it , also adobe .
We drove up to 9800 ’ to Sunspot to visit the National Solar Observatory which unfortunately is closing and all moving to Colorado ( although there is hope to keep it open at least as a museum .) This is one of the original telescopes .
