THE HONORS WINS AN EMMY
The first awards show on television saluting our military heroes was the recipient of television’ s highest award when The Honors: A Salute to American Heroes was presented with an Emmy at the 57th Annual Emmy Awards gala hosted by the National Capital & Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
This was The Honors’ first Emmy win in its first year on commercial television, a testament to the importance of ensuring our heroes receive the recognition they deserve, and their stories are preserved for future generations.
DOOLITTLE’ S RAIDERS: A FINAL TOAST – U. S. CAPITOL PREMIERE
Doolittle’ s Raiders: A Final Toast had the distinction of holding its premiere screening at the United States Capitol in Washington, DC, where it was the opening event of the 2015 G. I. Film Festival. The festival- which is the first in the nation solely featuring films honoring our military and veterans, took place over Memorial Day weekend, and welcomed distinguished veterans and film and television stars.
On hand for the premiere was Jimmy Doolittle’ s co-pilot and one of only two surviving Doolittle Raiders- Lt. Col. Richard E. Cole( right). Seated next to him are AVC & WWIIVC President James C. Roberts and movie and television star & noted military supporter Gary Sinise.
CELEBRATING OUR“ SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP” – OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BRITISH EMBASSY Over the last several years, the AVC & WWIIVC has established an ongoing relationship with the British Embassy in Washington, DC to help salute the heroes of our“ Special Relationship,” from World War II to the present day. The signature event is an annual Veterans Day reception at the Embassy( above) welcoming heroes of the Second World War.

DOCUMENTARY PROGRAMS & TELEVISION SPECIALS
In 2015, the American Veterans Center & World War II Veterans Committee released its new documentary film, Doolittle’ s Raiders: A Final Toast.
The Doolittle Raiders- the 80 men who led the first attack on Japan following Pearl Harbor- have long been cherished friends of the AVC & WWIIVC. With their ranks quickly dwindling, Doolittle’ s Raiders: A Final Toast captures both the story of the raid and the legacy the men have left behind.

HONORING THE HEROES OF IWO JIMA
February 19, 2015 marked the 70th anniversary of the start of the epic Battle of Iwo Jima. As part of the official ceremonies, American Veterans Center & World War II Veterans Committee President James C. Roberts joined dignitaries from the United States military and the Japanese government.
Among those attending were Yoshitaka Shindo( pictured above, with James Roberts), member of the Japanese national legislature and grandson of the Japanese commander on Iwo Jima, the respected General Tadamichi Kuribayashi.
