Our cover , this issue , is a continuation of looking back over the last forty years of the American Pit Bull Terrier Gazette to the beginning . We wanted to highlight a small taste of some of the foundation dogs that we have deemed worthy to have graced the centerfold of the Gazette .
As the history keeping organization of the American Pit Bull Terrier , we continue this issue with a review of the history of the breed and the people who developed the dogs we have today . You may ask , why do we speak of history ? What value is there in things that are old , or events that are past ?
Our history defines us . It defines an institution , a country , a family and it defines a dog breed . We need a sense of history in all that we do . As we go through our lives , we stand on the shoulders of others who have gone before us . To have a sense about where we are going , we need the knowledge about where we have been .
With that in mind let ’ s continue ….
