Travel back in time with us (approximately 40 or so
years) as we recollect the inception of the American Pit
Bull Terrier Gazette magazine.
Our photo cover is extremely special and may not be
familiar to most. It shows Red Lacy, Show Chairman for the
Golden State Pit Bull Club, presenting Ralph Greenwood
the judges plaque in appreciation for judging the first
ADBA Sanctioned Point Show in Southern California in
the spring of 1977.
Red’s natural flair for organization plus an unending
enthusiasm prompted him to organize and form the Golden
State Pit Bull Club and, after his retirement, he moved to
a ‘heaven on earth’ spot in Oregon where he formed and
organized the beginning of the Beaver State Pit Bull Club.
A devoted lover of the breed - for more years than
he would like to remember - it was Red who urged the
ADBA to sponsor the conformation shows and he most
enthusiastically suggested that we publish a magazine. His
idea exploded into reality and we, here at the ADBA, want
to thank him for being so insistent and supportive.

DAY PRECEDING THE MONTH OF ISSUE. (Feb. Issue deadline: Jan. 1st - May issue - April 1st, etc.) Any Kennel Names
used in ads must be registered with the ADBA and belong to
the registered owner as listed with the registration office. All
photos sent into the Gazette are considered the property of the
Gazette. No guarantee as to placement in desired issue, as all
advertisement space is based on a first come basis, provided all
requirements are met.
