Congratulations to Vic and Lin Jefford of Destiny Cycles in the UK for taking the ‘ Best in Show ’ win at the recent Bigtwin Bikeshow & Expo in the Netherlands with ‘ Gold Rush ’ - an exquisite 1200cc S & S engined Sportster with Pan rocker covers - a classic of its kind and a superb example of Destiny ’ s much admired signature attention to detail . The frame is a handmade Destiny one-off ‘ Gold Rush ’ rigid with Harley style springers , ‘ Canonball ’ 12-spoke mag wheels ( from W & W Cycles ), vintage French 1950s ‘ Halcyon ’ gas tank with a Golan fuel tap , S & S Super E carb , a Destiny polished stainless 2-into-2 exhaust and a custom oil tank that has been fabricated from two fire extinguishers ! The machined polished brass cap is from Woody .
Vic says : “ It is a totally one-off build , with nearly all the parts nickel plated to give a vintage look . The paint evokes the 1849 Californian Gold Rush . The seat is a handcarved and braided leather special ; the hand controls are polished aluminum and brass by Kustom Tech in Italy , and I used an MMB speedo with warning lights .” But the bike isn ’ t a show bike as such . From the spring of 2018 it will be ridden regularly … and if the paint gets damaged ? “ Well , the owner is pretty relaxed about that – he simply says he ’ ll just have to get us to do it again !”
