The 2017 Tourers are up-front, center of the MY2017 announcements made so
far because of the new engine and the upgraded suspensions.
“These are the most powerful, most responsive and most comfortable Touring
motorcycles ever offered by Harley-Davidson,” said Scott Miller, Vice President
of Styling and Product Development Strategy.
“The unmistakable look, sound and feel of Harley-Davidson Touring
motorcycles rise to even greater heights with the improvements we’ve made
this year.”
The “clean sheet” design of the new engine design, one that, contrary to
expectations, may turn out to be a Tourer-only powerplant, is said to give the
2017 touring line-up “the classic look, sound and feel of Harley-Davidson Big

Twin engines with improvements in every aspect of engine performance.
“The Milwaukee-Eight engine carries the legacy of Harley-Davidson Big Twins
into the future,” said Chief Powertrain Engineer Alex Bozmoski. “While
respecting the essential Big Twin character, we’ve created an all-new motor.
Every aspect of performance, durability and styling has been improved as a
direct response to the voice of Harley-Davidson customers around the world.”
Overall lengths, seat heights, weights, lean angles and ground clearances vary,
but all the Tourers have 26 degree rake, 29.25 degree fork angle, 6.7”
(170mm) trail, 64” wheelbase, the 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission,
electronic sequential port fuel injection, 6 gallon (U.S.) tank capacity, the same
wheels and tires, repositioned exhaust pipes and catalytic converters, upgraded
suspension components and one of the two 107-inch ‘Milwaukee-Eight’
engine options.
