New at Motorcycle BRIEFS Storehouse NEWS Arlen Ness is to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum at its Polaris sponsored class of 2016 Hall of Fame inductees breakfast during this year’s Sturgis Rally. Ness has been a Sturgis Hall of famer since 1992, and this is the first time that the Museum has added such an award to its annual recognition program. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) in the United States is said to be “investigating” a potential problem with the anti-lock brakes on over 400,000 ‘08-‘11 Harley models fitted with ABS brakes. Swiss endurance rider Urs “Grizzly” Pedraita has succeeded in his attempt to set a new world record for circumnavigating the world on a motorcycle. Riding a Victory Cross Country Tour, “Grizzly” rode through five continents in 119 days and 21 hours – which includes the time the bike was “in transit” between continents; his riding time was a “mere” 72 days and 13 hours to cover a total of 47,390 miles (76,277 km). The AutoTune mode enables the bike to recalibrate the fuel map in real time to adjust to the specific conditions and even the quality of fuel that is used. When the Android or iPhone is installed, it becomes a bike-specific on-screen provider of live sensor data, like speed, rpm, cylinder head temperature, voltage, gear selection and so forth.
