BDL Competitor clutch for Sportsters THE latest Competitor clutch from BDL – the CC-140-BB – has been developed specifically for use in Sportster clutch baskets from ’91 onwards. The company states that its patented Ball Bearing lockup clutch pressure plate will handle all stock applications. The Ball Bearing technology used by BDL is claimed to significantly lighten clutch pull at the lever while providing smooth, slip free lock-up. Each unit incorporates a designated number of steel ball bearings set in a model specific diaphragm assembly. The Ball Bearing lock-up conversion assembly replaces the factory pressure plate, springs and hub. Two designs are available; the Street Rage bars, which are 12in high and offered in a choice of black or chrome, and the Brawler bars also in a choice of black or chrome and also 8in or 14in heights. Both styles are made with swedged tubing steeping down to 1in diameter to allow stock controls to be used.
