One such example is its standard left-side Solo Bag, which is supplied with four leather straps that attach to a rigid frame without the need for brackets. For Softails, the bags strap directly to the swingarm. The individual components of the bag are cut from heavy-duty 10-12 ounce leather using a die and hydraulic press. The individual pieces are secured in a jig and are stitched using Americanmade thread. The latch is hot-forged, and that method was selected because it delivers metal that is claimed to be stronger than cast or machined metal parts. The Garage Leathers’ latch is load tested at 3,000lbs. It is then brass or nickel-plated, which provides an antique-style finish. “We hand-select top-grain leather that is finished with a light matt surface to construct our solo bags,” says Robert Camardo, Garage Leathers’ Chief Leather Designer. “Each bag has a slightly weathered look with nickel and brass fasteners completing a satisfying antique or old-school influence. Our bags aren’t shiny or glossy as this signifies bags made with inferior leather quality. “Our bags are built tough, and because of the combination of quality leather, meticulous stitching and solid design, we have not had a solo bag returned in seven years of production,” explains Camardo. The kits have been created to make it easier to fit ape hanger bars to bikes which use either CAN Bus or HDLAN style wiring. Specific kits are available for the late model Dyna and Softail for use with 12in, 14in, 16in or 18in ape hangers. The kits include extended throttle cables, extended clutch cable, extended brake line and H-D specific wiring harness extensions.
