2013 Hollister AMD Qualifier Custom Bike Show
HOLLISTER has long been known following the 1947 Gypsy Tour motorcycle event that took place over the Fourth of July holiday weekend that year, which inspired the movie The Wild One. Now in 2013, the town has played host to the 2013 Hollister AMD Qualifier Custom Bike Show, which saw 47 custom motorcycles competing for over $8,000 in cash and prizes, across six classes, with product awards provided by Rocking K Leathers, Bell Helmets, D&D Exhaust, Avon Tires, Ride Wright Wheels and Helmet Lok. In the Freestyle class Sam Baldi, of Profile Cycles, took 1st place with Lost Angel and won the $1,500 check and an automatic bid to compete in the 2nd Annual AMD Invitational Custom Bike Show held in Milwaukee on the Harley-Davidson Museum campus during the 110th celebration. Lost Angel is a Softail featuring a Patrick Racing 113ci motor with trans brake, centrifugal clutch, Paul Cox seat, and paint by One Xtreme. Manteca, California builder, Paul Binford of Binford Custom Cycles took the top prize in Performance Custom with his Captain Bad Ass radical Sportster. The Modified Harley win, and accompanying $1,250 check, was taken by a heavily modified 2005 Road Glide Police known as Calwa Cali and built by Al Sanchez. In the Radical Bagger class the win was taken by Bike Werks CA Baggers, with a bike featuring a 26in front wheel and 8in extended bags. Dalton Walker’s Shknuckle took 1st place in Retro MOD winning him $1000, while a second of his builds, Robins Dean garnered him second place in the same class too. Regular World Championship competitor Jim Guiffra of AFT Customs took 1st place in Mod Street with Halia.
