Germany- Motorcycle Registrations + 17.51 %
The most recent available data from the IVM( the motorcycle industry trade association for Germany) shows new motorcycle registrations for the first eight months of 2026 growing at + 17.51 %( 91,946 units YTD). The data suggests that either the German market was more heavily affected by the Euro 5 + transition in 2025, especially in H1, or that there is a level of underlying growth there than very few analysts had been expecting. Total PTW registrations to August 2026 were + 24.75 % at 158,800 units – only some 16,000 units behind YTD August 2023- which was the strongest first eight-month market performance seen in Germany since the 2008 global financial crisis. As to be expected, the BMW R 1300 GS continues its market domination as the best seller in Germany with 5,125 units sold for a YTD( reduced) 5.57 % market share. The Kawasaki Z 900 remains in second spot( 3,629 units / 3.95 % share); followed by the Honda CBR650 R( 2, 005 units / 2.18 %); Kawasaki Z 650( 1,788 units / 1.94 %) and Yamaha MT-07 in fifth( 1,590 units / 1.73 % share). The CFMoto 675 SR-R is now up to sixth spot( 1,564 / 1.70 %), the Honda CB 750
Hornet is seventh( 1,485 / 1.62 %), with the Yamaha Ténéré 700 in eighth( 1,284 / 1.56 %), the BMW F900 R( 1,369 / 1.49 %) is in ninth ahead of the Yamaha MT-09 in 10th( 1,365 / 1.49 %). Significantly a second CFMoto model is just outside the top 10 best sellers YTD on the Germany market – the 450 MT is in 11th spot with 1,236 units sold for a 1.34 % market share. No surprise that BMW remains the German market share leader( 16,986 units sold YTD for a( reduced) 18.39 % share with 13 models in the list of Germany ' s top 50 best sellers. Honda continues to close the gap with BMW, in second with a 15.44 % share( 14,197 units sold – also 13 models in the top 50); Kawasaki is also close, in third, with a 14.35 % share( 13,193 units – 6 models in the top 50) and they are now clear as German’ s‘ Big Three’. Yamaha is fourth on 7.67 % share( 7,052 units – 6 in the top 50) and CF Moto is now up to fifth spot in market share with 5,593 units sold YTD and 5 different models in the top 50 list of best sellers in Germany. KTM( with two models in the top 50) are in sixth followed by Triumph, Ducati, Harley-Davidson and Suzuki in seventh to ninth places, but without any models
