6 Select – " More Power For Big Batteries "
The Gold series OptiMate 6 Select version 2 is a powerful 6 Amp charger ideal for the more powerful AGM and LFP lithium powersport batteries that are finding their way into touring motorcycles, ATVs and Side by sides. Version 2 combines all the best OptiMate features for leadacid batteries and LFP lithium batteries, accessible through three selectable charge modes, Pb, AGM and LFP. Additionally, to support the battery when the rider wants to adjust settings with ignition system on, but engine not running, Service mode can be selected when the battery is under charge or being maintained. LFP battery mode is for all lithium powersport batteries( typically) made from Lithium Ferrous Phosphate technology. A deep discharged battery can be saved from as low as 0.5 Volts or the low voltage disconnect( LVD) of a smart BMS can be reset from zero volts. Pb and AGM charge modes are for lead-acid batteries, with Pb for standard FLA( flooded lead acid) or regular sealed batteries, including GEL and dry charged AGM, that should be charged to the standard 14.4 Volts and AGM mode for premium factory activated AGM batteries that benefit from an elevated charge voltage of 14.7V. Both Pb and AGM modes include the industry tested and trusted SAVE mode that automatically desulphate and recover a neglected lead-acid battery from as low as 0.5 Volts. Charge current behaviour is initially set by the selected mode then varies according to the electrical properties of the battery – smaller
batteries get less, bigger batteries get more for the most optimal and fastest charge. " The Safe-T ° temperature regulation- for Pb and AGM lead-acid batteries – adjusts charge voltage up or down, according to ambient temperature, to prevent under or overcharging. LFP lithium batteries receive high current within a narrow temperature window which fortunately corresponds with motorcycle riding weather. But below freezing or in extreme heat, charge current is adjusted lower to prevent battery damage. " It tests charge retention after charging and displays the result in a 3 LED panel i. e., you’ ll see at a glance if your battery is in good shape. The Service mode provides stable battery support whilst the rider gets all the settings just right." Martin went on to explain that " years ago a six-amp charger would have been overkill, but with modern battery technology capacity / size increasing, OptiMate 6 Select is the one every serious rider needs- for inhouse bike maintenance or emergency charging at home or on tour.
