The MIC reports that tariff changes could reshape the outlook for motorcycle industry. The Trump administration revised its Section 232 tariff structure for steel, aluminum, and copper in a proclamation that took effect April 6, removing certain finished motorcycles from the derivative-product list and excluding those products from Section 232 duties. " This appears to create more favorable treatment for some finished motorcycles, but aftermarket and replacement parts are still likely to be captured at 25 %," said Scott Schloegel, Senior VP Government Relations for MIC, ROHVA, and SVIA.
Called Extended Producer Responsibility( EPR), the MIC says that new battery and packaging laws being enacted state by state could require manufacturers, distributors, and / or dealers to fund and manage recycling programs for products they sell. The policy model behind these laws shifts some end-of-life management costs from governments to producers, and in practice can mean mandatory participation in stewardship organizations, reporting requirements, registration with state agencies, and financial contributions tied to covered products.
Despite making it onto the statute books in some other states, notably in Kansas, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers( D) vetoed the bipartisan-supported Right-to-Race bill that had passed in the Wisconsin State Assembly and Senate. As elsewhere in the United States, the AMA supported Bill aims to protect existing motorsports racetracks from nuisance claims. It is estimated that the measure would help support the wide variety of racetracks throughout the state that are said to provide $ 2.46bn in total economic impact as well as provide 10,601 jobs in the state.
ACEM- Q1 2026 Motorcycle Registrations in Europe ' s ' Big-5 ' Markets
New motorcycle registrations the five largest European markets( i. e. France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK) reached 250,762 units during the three first months of 2026. This represents an increase of approximately + 21.1 % compared to 2025( 207,126 units). The growth comes as registration statistics in Europe lap the Euro 5 ' Pre Reg ' affected data of Q1 2025. Some 30,000-40,000 new motorcycles were ' pre-registered ' before the end of 2024 to avoid being subject to the next stage in the evolution of Europe ' s regulatory framework. However, the motorcycles concerned were ultimately sold by dealers in the first three months of 2025( mostly)

These ' Big-5 ' European markets account for just over 80 % of all motorcycle sales in all European markets. Commenting on the current situation of the sector, Antonio Perlot, ACEM Secretary General, said: " The first

There ' s good news from the UK, with the latest motorcycle industry trade association data( MCIA) also reflecting the improved statistical picture seen as elsewhere in Europe as the data laps the late 2024 and early 2025 Euro 5 / Euro 5 + ' pre reg ' anomaly. Motorcycle registrations for the first two months of 2026 were + 17.23 %( 8,382 units YTD) with January + 17.53 %( 4,625) and February + 16.86 %( 3,757 units). Total new PTW registrations YTD in the UK were + 15.67 %( 8,801 units) reflecting the weakness of the UK as a moped market. Total Scooter registrations YTD were + 17.3 % at 2,539 new units registered in January and February. The market wide trend towards lower displacements continues in the UK, with 51-125 cc, 126-500 cc and 501- 750 cc units + 25.8 %, 23.9 % and 35.9 % respectively. There were 250 new electric PTWs registered in the UK in January and February, which is-16.4 % on the year ago period.
Honda was market share leader in the UK in February with 947 units sold, followed by Yamaha, Lexmoto, BMW, Triumph, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, Keeway and Voge. For the record: Total new motorcycle registrations in the UK in 2025 were recorded as 89,160 units(-19.42 %). quarter of 2026 confirms the outlook we shared at the end of last year. " With the Euro 5 + transition behind us, the European motorcycle market is regaining momentum. Registrations in the five largest markets rose by 21.1 %, with all monitored countries reporting growth. " This indicates that demand remains solid and that last year ' s correction was mainly technical in nature. " This strong growth is particularly encouraging in a broader macroeconomic context that remains uncertain. Against this backdrop, the resilience of the motorcycle segment highlights the continued importance of powered two-wheelers for European citizens, both for everyday mobility, small logistics and leisure." www. acem. eu

As elsewhere though, this excludes the several thousand data distorting Euro 5 models that were pre-registered in late 2024 before the Euro 5 + regulation update became effective at the start of 2026. These models were nonetheless nearly all sold through dealerships in 2025, mostly in H1.
