The Indian motorcycle brand will be celebrating its 125th anniversary, and, if the early signs are anything to go by, Harley will also start to steer a new, dealer friendly direction. As the bike show competitors rolled in pre-show, it quickly became apparent that selection of the 14 class winners plus a " Best of Show " would be a difficult task, even for the experienced judging panel that Garage 21( publishers of " Custombike " and " Dream Machines " magazines) had put together. Last year ' s show winners Lyn and Vic Jefford( Great Britain) were back with a brand-new Sportster-based Chopper that premiered at Bad Salzuflen, there were plenty of " Boardtrack " Replicas and numerous entries deserved attention for their engineering and
Best of Show went to Peter Herbert( Germany) with " 21st Century Boardtrack ", a 2013 Indian Scout handcrafted Boardtrack Racer with completely homemade rolling chassis, bodywork and 23 " Big Spoke wheels!
Sportsbike winner- " Salzmaschine ", a Sportster Salt Flat Racer by Heinz Steber, Germany, is " ready to roll " onto the Bonneville Salt Flats in August 2026.
Best Roadster winner- " Jawa Flat Tracker ", a 1958 Jawa 354 conversion by Sebastian Brandt, Germany. It features an all-aluminum bodywork, fully rebuilt 2-stroke twin and with 35 hp about the double performance of the original street version. Sebastian handcrafted or adapted most of the parts himself. craftsmanship. The ' European Championship ' had a total prize fund of € 12,000 with € 5,000 going to the ' Best of Show ' winner, along with the prestigious ' European Champion ' title. However, more than 20 + bikes in the competitions would have easily scored wins in most years- the standards really were that high.
This year ' s Custombike International Biker Build Off saw Lithuania ' s " Killer Custom "- with a turbo-charged Low Rider ST power bike carb and chain drive conversion- up against Daniel Zuerker and his American Dream Cycles( Germany), who was aiming for a never seen before seen ' crossover, look of Clubstyle, Chopper and Off- Road Tracker.
