Designed and made in Europe by Supersprox, this new ' Supersprox Stealth ' range Cush Drive for Baggers and Touring is a must have power upgrade for those who are serious about getting their big inch power down onto the pavement, where it belongs. A new ' must-have ' go-to solution for those looking to build resilience into Bagger Racing Tourers too. " Supersprox has engineered the Ultimate upgrade," says CEO ' DJ ' Maughfling. " One that is specified to handle the power that today ' s Performance Bagger drivetrains are generating." Available for ' 09- ' 16 and ' 17- ' 22 Touring models, these sprockets are CNC machined from high strength, lightweight 7075-T651 heat treated aluminum-zinc alloy( aka Ergal)- used in sprocket applications, the high strength, lightweight material minimizes rotational mass to maximize acceleration. The all-aluminum construction( aluminum core and hub) with steel teeth is said to provide up to 3 times extended chain and sprocket system life, compared to aluminum sprockets. Supersprox has been in the sprocket business since it was founded in 1959 by the father of current CEO DJ Maughfling. Supersprox became well known for its invention of the hybrid sprocket back in 1999. It has steel teeth, for long system life and aluminium core to reduce rotational mass. Over the past 25 + years, this sprocket has been used on the winning motorcycles at the legendary Dakar rally, 19 times. Its race proven material, |
for sure. Earlier this year( at Las Vegas for AIMExpo) AMD met up with DJ just as he was completing testing and starting to science-out his sales and marketing strategy for the ' Supersprox Stealth ' range. Brandishing some freshly machined and finished samples, DJ explained the history and prospects for Supersprox ' future in the V-twin market. " I was in the US during 2023, attending national sales events for our key distributors. I was repeatedly asked about our range of V-twin sprockets. At the time, it was relatively modest and not as well evolved as it now – back then it was a market sector that we just didn ' t understand. " What was obvious is that there was increasing demand and a widespread perception that the existing belt drives being offered for V-Twin applications, especially at the heavy-duty power end of the market, simply had not been engineered for the stresses they have to endure. |
" Knowing just how robust and wellengineered our sprockets are, knowing the quality of our processes and our materials, it was quickly apparent that we had an opportunity to meet a genuine need." Asked if the demands that big inch, heavy V-twins placed on sprocket durability came as a surprise, DJ said: " No. Even those of us who have historically specialized in metric and MX sprockets know enough about Big Twins to understand that they do make unique demands on the power transmission cycle, which is why belts have had such a big role to play in the development of Harleys. " It ' s not that sprockets can ' t be made to be strong enough and light enough, it ' s just that there hasn ' t been sufficient demand before." And now there is? " Yes. Where there is a need there is an opportunity and at the top-end of the market, throwing 800 lbs of Bagger around racetracks like COTA, Road America and Laguna Seca has shown that there is a need |

and they have created the demand for power transmission that gets the job done. Our sprockets are the real deal. Reliable, strong, durable and light." The ' Supersprox Stealth ' is a genuine range though, isn ' t it? Not simply a single sprocket option, right? " Correct. It is a genuine range with which dealers and performance engineers can reach a widespread market. " We are offering four new items for the V-twin market. The most important, in terms of complexity, are our complete replacement cush drive hub and sprockets, to convert 2009-2022 touring models( Baggers). These bikes are pushing out too much power and chain conversion is becoming an essential upgrade.
