They are easy to handle and install and designed with a unique stainless-steel screen and beautiful UV resistant, fade free red anodized ring. Fitted with replaceable seals, this radiator cap is designed for Harleys but will fit a vast array of most water-cooled motorcycles. Designed to open and relieve high temperature pressures at 20 psi or 1.4 bar, coolant escapes into a small holding tank. Once the coolant temperature reduces, a vacuum is created, and the coolant returns into the cooling system. At 20 psi( 1.4 bar), the coolant is allowed to maintain a higher boiling point temperature- due to higher pressures. This is a matter of physics. It is critical to control the pressure in order to ensure the integrity of the coolant system. These specifications meet SAE J164 standards. The Gaslock radiator cap has been designed and tested extensively over thousands of cycles. Each new cap is tested after assembly before shipping, to ensure it is functioning properly and given a laser etched date code.
