BSA B65 Scrambler Coming This Year By Ben Purvis
The single-cylinder BSA Gold Star 650 launched under the brand ' s Mahindra ownership has proved a quiet success in terms of sales since its 2022 launch and now a second model- the B65 Scrambler- is set for summer 2025. Like the Gold Star, the B65 uses a 652 cc liquid-cooled singlecylinder engine that, despite its retro, finned appearance can actually trace its heritage to the Rotax 650 that powered the likes of BMW ' s F650 and G650 models, as well as Aprilia ' s Pegaso 650. The BSA reworking of the design adds a retro flair to its shape, although not to the extent of aircooled rivals like Royal Enfield ' s 650 cc twin-cylinder bikes. Liquid cooling means the BSA single ' s power output can match that of the Royal Enfield twins, peaking at 45 hp and 6,500 rpm, with 55 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The motor is mounted in the same steel tube frame used by the Gold Star, with 41 mm forks and a twin-shock rear end. The B65 Scrambler raises the ride height, raising the seat by 40 mm. A 19-inch front wheel replaces the Gold Star ' s 80- incher, paired to a similar 17-inch rear wheel, and the B65 gets Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR rubber instead of Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres. At 218 kg, the B65 is 5 kg heavier than the Gold Star. Other changes include a different instrument display, with the B65 borrowing its circular LCD from the Jawa 42 that ' s also a product of Mahindra ' s ' Classic Legends ' subsidiary group.
Andrews Acquired by Racing & Performance Holdings
Andrews, the Mount Prospect, Illinois based performance cams specialist was acquired in Q4, 2024 by Racing and Performance Holdings- a portfolio investor headed up as CEO by former MAG( PM, V & H) and PerTronix ignitions executive Mark Finnie. The R & P group of holdings include Airflow Research Heads, Paxton and Vortech Superchargers, RaceTec Pistons, SCAT Crankshafts and Procar Seating Systems.
