The November 2024 Big Twin Motorcycle Expo and Custom Bike Show saw exhibitors and builders participating from Poland , Spain , Italy , Lithuania , England , France , Belgium and Germany as well as the strong Dutch market . The custom bike show saw more than 110 bikes competing in a high-class field . Founded in 1992 , the show is promoted and operated by leading Dutch custom motorcycle magazine Bigtwin , and after spending many years at the Autotron facility at Rosmalen ( near Den Bosch ) it returned to the Utrecht area a few years ago . This was the 31st Bigtwin Expo and Custombike Show , it has been operated continuously since 1992 excepting for the enforced break triggered by Covid . " Showmaster " Onno Wieringa coordinated the Bike Show and did stage duties , presenting the winners that had selected by a custom motorcycle industry experienced nine-man jury consisting of Wout Bijlsma , Goos Bos , Ton Cornelissen , Aad Heemskerk , Stef Jansen , Mark van den Kwaak , Horst Roesler and Wilbert Tax . There were some rarities seen among the more mainstream custom platforms during the stage awards , including a 1913 Terrot " Motorette " by Hans Devos , and a 1924 " Sons of Speed " racer by Martin van der Plas which won the Café Racer / Tracker class - a category that featured a |
particularly large number of top bikes , often with completely different concepts . As demonstrated by the secondplaced XR 1200 from Niko Bikes in Italy and the third-placed ' TT racer ' style Triumph ' Thruxton ' from Ron Betist , the Chopper / Bobber class was another close result as quality and diversity made any kind of comparison between projects near impossible . Pierre-Ives Wingerter from France was finally judged to have come in just ahead of the handcrafted and exquisitely styled high-neck chopper by Christiaan Visser ( PW Custom Cycles ) - with numerous details that interpreted the designs of the iconic ' Grey Fellow ' Harley ’ s of the early 20th |
century in a uniquely contemporary way . Third place went to Graeme Mercer from England for an equally clean handcrafted Sportster chopper with a 1973 " Ironhead " engine . This year ' s show trip paid-off handsomely for some of the German |
competitors . In the prestigious ' Freestyle ' class Enrico de Haas took the win his completely custom-built lightweight 170 cc two-stroke Custombike . Sebastian Brandt took a convincing " Best of Show " prize with the immaculate MZ Streamliner that he had premiered at CUSTOMBIKE in Germany 11 months earlier - exploiting the residual fondness that the Dutch market had for East German two-stroke MZs 70s and 80s . Rookie of the Year was Lars Christiansen and his ' Evel Knievel ' styled Honda VT 600 . European , and especially Bigtwin show stalwarts Lynn and Vic Jefford from Destiny Cycles in the UK exhibited a cool Evo-Sportster . Less radical than previous Destiny custom projects , it nevertheless took the win in the Custom / Modified class . Once again , the most popular class were the Clubstyle / Performance Baggers , with the win going to the participants who had probably |
