Chef Ross Ruiz A Los Angeles native, Rosendo Ruiz, envisioned himself as a chef from a young age. Inspired by Julia Childs and Jacque Pepin on local television, Rosendo would pedal over to his dad’s auto repair shop to cook carne asada for the mechanics, crew members and customers. He achieved a career goal to study at Le Cordon Bleu in Pasa- dena, graduating in the Class of 2004. During Rosendo’s internship at Koldo Royo in Palma de Mallorca in Spain, at the time a Michellin rated establishment, he learned the importance of working with local ingredients to create modern cuisine techniques that uniquely represented the Basque region. Later in Los Angeles, President of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity of UCLA, Gerardo Ornelas, gave Ross the opportunity to launch his career as a Private Chef for the Fraternity. Ross also provided marketing and business development for the Tomas Café in Downtown Oxnard, CA. Tom Garcia (owner of Tomas Café) and Rosendo Ruiz collaborated for all the annual event’s food production and service for the Oxnard Annual Mother’s Day Mariachi Festival over the past eight years, serving more than 400 guests. As a career mentor, Rachel Main, current owner of Main Course California, gave encouragement and invaluable training to help Rosendo move to the next level as a private chef, Servicing high-end clientele, including service for Mrs. Obama in 2012. Rosendo has expanded his catering to film productions with Big Time Catering Servicing TV Shows like NBC’s The Office and Bravo’s Top Chef for many seasons. In 2013, Rosendo officially launched his own company Catering Creationz, LLC, servicing his own private chef clients. Continuing his work as a private chef with a niche in the entertainment industry in the Los Angeles area.
