DAY 1 San Francisco
On arrival make your own way to your hotel. If time allows, step out and explore Union Square. This is the city’ s retail heart with department stores and boutiques as well as theatres and inviting dining options.
DAY 2 San Francisco
Kick things off with an included half day San Francisco city tour taking in Chinatown, North Beach, the Presidio, Nob Hill and the Golden Gate Bridge. The tour also includes boat travel across to infamous Alcatraz Island for an enjoyable self-guided audio tour. Stand in some of the cells, see the washrooms and dining hall, plus read stories of attempted escapes. Before heading back, be sure to snap pictures of the city skyline and Golden Gate Bridge.
DAY 3 San Francisco
Your Highlights Tour also includes a San Francisco CityPASS for prepaid admission to four of the city’ s most famous attractions( see page 80 for further details). After dark, check out Union Square’ s many cocktail bars, including those with fabulous city views from up high.
DAY 4 San Francisco
If not already done so, stroll atmospheric Chinatown, see the seals at Pier 39, ride on a historic cable car, watch the traffic weave along crooked Lombard Street or, head to one of the city’ s most photographed locations, Alamo Square. Later, independently transfer back to the airport for your onward journey. Alternatively, why not extend your stay and explore more of California?
