Florida Beaches
From the Gulf to the Atlantic, Florida’ s beaches shine
Where better to see and be seen than South Beach Miami. Set against a landscape of beautiful beaches with candy-coloured lifeguard stations, Miami is known for its Art Deco district, lively Ocean Drive, Little Havana, eclectic shopping and vibrant nightlife. Neighbouring Fort Lauderdale tempts with stunning golden sands, a picturesque beachfront promenade and, with 300 miles of inland waterways, it’ s a boating hotspot too. Upscale Boca Raton has luxury resorts, world-class arts scene, great golf, top-notch dining and, of course, wonderful sandy shores.
On Florida’ s south west coast fabulous Fort Myers Beach sits on a little barrier island and is heaped with sugary white sand. Sophisticated Naples brags talcum-soft beaches, great golfing, luxurious hotels and fine dining not to mention an historic downtown whose elegant streets host boutiques, galleries and restaurants. The quaint coastal community of Cape Coral is a prime boating location and will appeal to nature lovers, families and couples. Sarasota offers both big-city living and close access to pristine natural areas and beautiful islands such as Longboat Key with its glorious beaches and St Armand’ s Circle’ s shops and eateries.
Popular St Petersburg and Clearwater, in the central west, boast 35 miles of impeccable white sand beaches and invitingly clear, shallow water, plus attractions aplenty, wonderful dining and an array of bars and music venues. Nearby Treasure Island is as fun as the name implies, with endless things to do for adults and children alike. The city of Tampa serves up a mix of historic architecture and a Riverwalk brimming with hip bars and restaurants.
Dive into tropical life on the Florida Keys, a famous island chain which begins in Key Largo, leads to Islamorada and Marathon before reaching Key West, the USA’ s southernmost point( it’ s one of America’ s great road trips). Keys life can be as action-packed or low-key as you wish, with options like watersports, boat trips, browsing galleries and museums or feasting on seafood.
Florida’ s Panhandle beckons with outdoor adventure, family fun and stunningly white beaches, including Panama City Beach and Pensacola Beach, which is known for its lively atmosphere and emerald-green waters.
On the north east coast, Amelia Island provides a tranquil getaway beside golden-hued sands while Daytona Beach boasts thrilling attractions such as the Daytona International Speedway. On the Space Coast Cocoa Beach is a renowned surfing spot with a fantastic beach and close proximity to the Kennedy Space Centre.
