In her opening remarks, Michelle
Osmanli, Executive Director of
AmCham Macedonia noted: “The
guiding principle should be ‘qual-
ity over quantity’. The joint goal
shouldn’t be to maximize the number
of MOUs a faculty or company has,
but to maximize the positive impact
on students of our efforts; thus sin-
cerity and proactivity from both sides
is crucial.”

Business-University Cooperation

n Thursday, March 9,
AmCham Macedonia
organized an event in
the spirit of advancing
cooperation between
companies that are serious about
investing in human resources and
four Skopje-based faculties within
Saints Cyril and Methodius Univer-
sity (UKIM). Roughly 100 guests from
the business community, university
representatives, diplomatic corps,
international organizations and state
institutions attended the event.
Business people from 30 compa-
nies heard from UKIM Rector Janku-
lovski as well as Deans from the
Faculties of Mechanical Engineering,
Electrical Engineering & Information
Technologies (FEIT), Information Sci-
ences and Computer Engineering
(FINKI) and the Faculty of Economics.
Their presentations summarized their
efforts to collaborate closely with the
business sector, including the need
to improve the quality of internships.
Participants then had a chance to
talk directly with all speakers and
