"While researching history that pre-dated slavery I came across one of the most successful female Pharaoh who reigned longer than any other. I never knew it was possible for a female to be a pharaoh. I am a tattoo artist by profession and as an African American, I noticed there is a lack of African inspired tattoo concepts. So information I learned about Hatshepsut inspired me to design the first of a line of ancient Egyptian tattoo concepts. I also learned that Ancient royalty were known for having tattoos, which is why you see hieroglyphics tattooed on her arms in the painting. I made an attempt to give her posture and facial expression as if she is appreciating returning home from a long trip to a foreign land."==============
