The Light in the Woods

The genre I chose for this piece is children’s literature. This genre is

something that I want to get better at writing and push the boundaries in publication of children’s books by talking about tough subjects such as discrimination. When I was growing up, I had to face racism through discrimination for being Hispanic. I didn’t have books that gave me comfort. In writing this, my goal is providing knowledge, emotion and understanding on how discrimination is a real thing and NEEDS to be discussed. Forced into the unknown, two orphaned foxes are pushed out everything they have ever known. Facing the uncertainty, these two must cling onto one another in order to survive. With nothing but the clothes on their backs and a small suitcase, they must find a new path, a path they must discover for themselves.
