‘A GLOBAL MOVEMENT IS RISING’
One organization defending the Amazon and raising awareness that I’ve
learned a lot from is The Pachamama Alliance: www.pachamama.org.
It was in their Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream
symposium that I for the first time became familiar with “Blessed Unrest”
by Paul Hawken.
He made a study on organizations globally that not
only work to gain profit, but aim at making a
difference to benefit Life. More than 2 billion
organizations were counted and his conclusion was
that seen together they form the biggest selforganized movement in history consisting of many
heroes and no single leader.

“If you look at the science that describes what is happening on earth
today and aren’t pessimistic, you don’t have the correct data. If you
meet people in this unnamed movement and aren’t optimistic, you
haven’t got a heart.”
- Paul Hawken
Another response to the “modern dream” is the Global Ecovillage
Network. From this network springs the Gaia Education Programmes where a
model is used called The Wheel of Sustainability, consisting of four
dimensions:
Ecology (green),
Economy (blue),
Social (red),
Worldview (purple).
And these four dimensions also give a
good description of the big Blessed
Unrest Movement. ‘ THE WHEEL’ © www.gaia.org
