Humans and the Earth were thus related in a sacred manner. Blood letting of humans - usually among
the nobles, the lords, warriors and wealthy merchants and animal sacrifice was a common occurrence on
cacao plantations during festivals honoring the Gods.
Cacao is an ancient medicine, teacher,
facilitator on your journey, whatever that may
be, with a sacred spirit that opens the Heart,
and helps us to reconnect with ourselves and
the heart of our sacred mother earth and
father sun.
Chocolate was used in betrothal, marriage
ceremonies and during “baptismal rites” for
children. Ground cacao beans were mixed with
pure water from the hollows of trees and ground flowers were used to anoint the foreheads, faces, hands
and toes of boys and girls.
Cacao provides a deeper healing that helps to remember and heal the ancestral memory!
'The Cacao TONANTZIN Ceremonial Chocolate'
In the spirit of the sacred cacao of the Aztecs and the Mayans, we create delicious chocolate blends
using a fusion of ancient super foods, herbal aphrodisiacs, and aromatic spices. At Tonantzin (Mother
Earth) the love of chocolate is sacred once again.
Tonantzin Tlalli 'Our Revered Mother Earth' is the Aztec goddess of Mother Earth, and our home where
we must learn to live as brothers and sisters.
Today more than ever it is essential to recover
the connection to Mother Earth and understand
that it is a living being that feels, thinks and is
aware, realizing that she has a heart that beats
to the rhythm of our own.
If we deplete and destroy her, we deplete and
destroy ourselves.
Loving ourselves and creating a beautiful life and
the loving the Earth are intimately connected,
and with these chocolates we seek to assist in
that, with the ancient appreciation for this
sacred cacao, which has always recognised as a
gift from Quetzalcoatl the serpent of light and
wisdom.
