DR. MICHAEL ROBINSON 2019 ND GRADUATE
Since graduating, NUHS alumnus Michael Robinson, ND,’ 19; MS; CNS; LDN; ONC; CFMP, has built an impressive career spanning both academia and clinical practice. He has taught at eight institutions and now holds a full-time position as a professor of immunology and oncology at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Beyond his teaching role, he owns Nourish Healthcare, a practice with three clinics in Illinois, where he is the director of oncology.
Dr. Robinson reflected on his time as a student, describing it as an amazing experience from start to finish. His favorite quality about NUHS was the tight-knit community. Within that supportive environment, he formed lifelong friendships and even met his wife, who shares his passion for medicine.
Through guest lecturing and making himself accessible to current students, Dr. Robinson has maintained a strong bond with NUHS. He is deeply invested in supporting the next generation of naturopathic physicians. At Nourish Healthcare, he employs many naturopathic doctors and chiropractic physicians who graduated from NUHS. Additionally, he mentors current NUHS students and facilitates hands-on learning opportunities at his multiple clinic locations.
DR. MARY SIMON 2018 ND GRADUATE
Alumna Mary Simon, ND,’ 18, graduated from NUHS with her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree and has been making her mark on the profession ever since. Upon graduating, Dr. Simon purchased a naturopathic medicine practice in Milwaukee. Her clinic, Thrive Holistic Medicine, primarily focuses on treating digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, mental and emotional health concerns, as well as offering colon hydrotherapy.
As a Wisconsin native, Dr. Simon was drawn to NUHS not only for its proximity to her hometown, but also for its emphasis on the naturopathic medicine philosophy that the body has an innate ability to heal itself. As a National University student, she learned the importance of collaborating with other practitioners to achieve patient success outcomes, something she prioritizes to this day in her practice.
Dr. Simon integrates principles from the determinants of health and the therapeutic order into her daily practice. During every new patient’ s first appointment, Dr. Simon ensures they understand these essential aspects of health and wellness. She credits NUHS for preparing her to stay true to the naturopathic medicine philosophy, helping patients achieve lasting wellness through diet, lifestyle and supplements. " Teaching patients to take control of their own health is incredibly powerful," she said. Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Simon remains closely connected to NUHS. She guest lectures on the topic of colon hydrotherapy every trimester and readily welcomes students to observe her clinic.
