“ Jack was a“ people person,” who enjoyed meeting and communicating with others, which would be a significant benefit,” Dr. Winterstein said.“ He immediately connected with Dr. Jacob Fisher, chancellor and chief academic officer at the time. Thus the“ three Js” Jack, Jake and Jim immediately developed a shared respect of each other and a wonderful working relationship.”
In addition to his skills in business, Groves was also an artist who could draw, weld, build kaleidoscopes and other threedimensional art pieces. This helped give him an eye for campus development.

“ Jack was a“ people person,” who enjoyed meeting and communicating with others, which would be a significant benefit,” Dr. Winterstein said.

“ When I became president of National in 1986, it was clear the campus could benefit from visual enhancements and Jack was the man to make that happen,” Dr. Winterstein said.“ The changes over the years not only enhanced our‘ curb appeal,’ but brought the community together as a whole.”
Over the years, Groves proved himself to be an excellent administrator who saw the bigger picture.
“ My friend and colleague is greatly missed,” Dr. Winterstein said.“ So long old friend. Until we meet again, may you rest in peace.”
