MESSAGE
I am privileged to be part of the 66th Foundation Day and the 32nd Grand Alumni
Homecoming of the Don Bosco Mandaluyong and on its continuing mission to
educate the youth. Time has tested this noble goal as a legacy of Saint John
Bosco who devoted his life in service of the young sector, moral reformation of the
juvenile and championing the causes of the disadvantaged youth in the society. I
laud the Don Bosco Mandaluyong Alumni Association Incorporated for steering the
initiative as one of the prime exponents of propagating the values and the appreciation of
one of the oldest educational institutions in the city.
The enormous energy and vigor of the new year sets 2019 as the Year of the Youth by the
Roman Catholic Church with the theme “Filipino Youth in Mission: Beloved, Gifted and Em-
powered.” This is a solid testament that up to this current time, the early lessons and golden
teachings of Saint John Bosco has been relatively part of our quest for a better nation and
meaningful Christian living which will be part of the special Foundation day issue of the
Alumni Spark.
Don Bosco Remains a formidable institution that has provided the young citizens of protec-
tion and shield of comfort that never fails to institute and pursue their general welfare and
development. As a proof of exellence, a number of noted and distinguished alumni of this
educational institution has formed part of the pilars of our city’s progress. My better half,
former Mayor Benhur Abalos, being a full blooded Bosconian, has followed the precious
teachings of Saint John Bosco of looking into the potentials and wonders of the youth. As a
blueprint guide in effective governance, I have significantly reinorced the opportunities of giv-
ing the best programs and projects that suit our young generation of today.
Investing on the capability and the brilliance of the youth is a classic public service agenda
that never goes out of style. Again and again, we lead by examples and we make public
service and governance according to the pressing needs of our constituents with efficiency,
effectiveness and transparency at all costs.
Let us not forget that a God-fearing citizen is the foundation of progress. It is through our
faith where we can see progress at its best.
Relive and revive the greatness of Saint John Bosco ! Mabuhay ang bawat isang Bosco ng
Mandaluyong!
CARMELITA A. ABALOS
