organization is evolving is critical if both are to move in the same direction.

What are your best experiences?

I am fortunate enough to have joined Britam when it was evolving and changing to become a digital and multinational organization. Some of my best experiences have been around coordination and implementation of Britam Strategy Cascading Project (in liaison with Palladium Group Strategy Consultants); implementation of a new Oracle based Performance Management System linked to strategy; spearheading the introduction and implementation of a Performance Moderation Process and being part of the team involved in implementation of an Oracle ERP System in all 7 Britam Countries.

If you weren’t in the HR profession, what would else would you be doing?

I would be a Pilot. I really wanted to be a pilot but my parents did not have the resources to make this happen when I got out of high school.

What do you do when you are not working?

I have a passion for basketball and sports in general. While at USIU-Africa, I was in the Basketball Team that started off in Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Division 2 league,

got promoted to KBF Division 1 league and finally got promoted to the KBF Premier League within 3 years!

After work I still play basketball to unwind and stay fit at least twice a week and play for a self-sponsored team for “old men” in KBF Division 2 league. And like most Kenyans, I am also a farmer! I farm tomatoes and green peppers which we sell to a nearby school.

How do balance your career and social life?

I spend most of my time in the office. Then share the rest of the time between family, friends and basketball. It’s hard to achieve a perfect balance but I try to always communicate and plan early so that I am able to give every ‘shareholder’ as much time as possible.

What is your personal mantra?

It always seems impossible until it’s done.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself assuming a HR Director role. I also see myself making inroads and succeeding in business and as a farmer. I further want to assist in growing the game of basketball from a strategic level or boardroom as well as mentoring others.

What is your advice to others who want to follow the same career path?

Work hard. Work smart. Have Fun.
